Dialog Merit Scholarships - Nurturing Talent for the Future
Dialog GSM, the country’s flagship mobile communications provider, in collaboration with its parent company Telekom Malaysia, launched the Dialog Merit Scholarship Programme, in 2003 to foster the talent of the youth of Sri Lanka.
The 25 Million Rupee Dialog Merit Scholarship Programme features sponsorship to the best male and best female Advanced Level Performers in the Country and the top Advanced Level performers in each of Sri Lanka’s 25 districts. Each of these scholarships are worth Rs 4000 per month for 48 months.
Two fully paid scholarships are also on offer to the best of these best, to pursue their academic studies at the Multi-Media University in Cyber Jayah, Malaysia. The Yassasan Scholarship Trust of Malaysia has joined hands with Dialog GSM and Telekom Malaysia to enable the scholarships to the MMU - which is now rated as one of the leading Technology Universities in the Asia Pacific region.
The Dialog Scholarship programme has been designed to provide an incentive to deserving students each year, to continue their education and to ultimately provide leadership for tomorrow’s technology enabled society.
The Dialog Scholarship is administered in collaboration with the Ministry of Education together with the University Grants Commission
In addition to the scholarships for University entrants, the scheme supports 40 best performers at the Ordinary Level examination, who opt to follow physical science subjects at Advanced level. The company has also extended special merit scholarships to four disabled students based on academic excellence and admission to University.
The Induction Ceremony of the Dialog GSM Merit Scholarship Progamme, for the April 2003 GCE Advanced Level performers, took place at the University Grants Commission Board Room today 19th February 2004 in the presence of a distinguished gathering.
